L112 - Antique Star Trunk Hasp Lock & Key

This is an early Star Lock Works hasp style trunk lock with the original unique steel key, and brass keyhole. This is marked with the patent date of April 1877, by Star Lock Works. The base plate measures 3 7/8" wide and 3" high. The hasp is 3" long and 2 3/4" wide at the top (edge to edge). The lock is complete and very strong. The lock requires a shallow hole for the base about 1 3/4" wide by 2" high. The lock works well and is steel and iron with a brass key escutcheon and rivets. Can be used as-is or painted. A great early lock for many types of trunks. Very hard to find! This type lock was used for many trunks of the late 1870s to early 1900's.
