L102 - Antique Excelsior Brass Lock & Key

An antique solid brass trunk lock with original barrel key! A very rare and high quality lock. The lock is marked "Excelsior Lock Pat'd Nov. 1 1864" on the top. See pictures for details. Measures 5 3/4" tall without the receiver and 1 7/8" wide at the base (edge to edge). The top receiver piece is 3 1/4" wide and 2 1/8" tall.

The lock is solid brass (not plated) and in very good condition, perfect for antique trunks or chests! The top receiver piece is steel. Well made and very heavy weight. This style lock was used on high quality trunks of the 1860's to about 1900.

Old authentic American made locks look much better on antique trunks than those lightweight reproduction locks made in foreign countries, plus they will increase the value of your trunk. This lock requires a hole in the lid about 1 1/2" diameter for the top.
