T100 - Rare Excelsior Oak Slat Trunk

Beautiful Rare Antique Oak Slat Barrel Top Trunk with the key and inner tray!

Size: 33” wide x 19.5” front to back x 24” tall. A great medium size that is very hard to find in the slat covered trunks.

Excellent professionally restored condition! These are called "Excelsior" trunks because that is what the original inventor called them when patented back in 1868. This one was made around 1895 but in the original style with beautiful grained hardwood slats! Made to be extra strong and beautiful enough to use in the home. A copy of the original 1868 patent document will also be provided.

All original hardware and Eastlake style double lock with original key, latches, etc.! Thick and strong leather handles have been added like the originals.

The interior has been cleaned, refinished, and the top lid and tray are relined with high quality new fabric. See the detailed pictures. The lift out wooden tray is very useful in a trunk such as this. The interior also has a beautiful Victorian print and border trim!

Well over 100 years old, with hardwood oak and elm slats. A barrel top trunk with a beautiful finish and in amazing condition! All the wood slats are original as well as all of the hardware and double latch lock! Very rare and hard to find especially in such nice condition. The metal bottom is also very clean and repainted.

A trunk of this type recently sold for $2295 plus shipping on another private website. This is a very reasonable price!
