M128 - Rare Large Trunk Latch 1885

A very rare large cast iron antique trunk latch marked with "PAT APR 28, 1885". Measures 7" tall by 3" wide with both parts latched together. Very clean with a nice patina, but can be painted if desired. Great condition, See pictures for details. The 5 on the front is for the size since some trunk latches were made in five sizes, with 5 being the largest. It works very well and has a special lever latching design. Cast iron and very strong. Install with trunk nails or rivets. Very hard to find and unusual! This would look great on the center of a trunk or chest lid. Only one available.
